We helped our colleagues at 72PointPLAY celebrate English Breakfast Day with Premier Inn conducting research into the breakfast eating habits of the nation.
OnePoll created a survey to delve into what Brits perfect breakfast looked like – including the number of bacon, sausages, eggs etc. We also investigated how people felt about certain foods touching each other on the plate. A nationally representative poll of 2076 UK adults was conducted to find this information.
21% reported a dislike for runny items touching each other on the plate, with egg yolk being the main offender for them (63% object to this touching other items) followed by beans (60%). The perfect breakfast was made up of 1.8 bangers, 2 slices of bacon, 1.5 eggs, 1.7 pieces of toast, and 1.6 hash browns.

This research was used by 72PointPlay to design the “Bean Barrier” plate for Premier Inn. A concept plate with a built in barrier to stop beans from touching other food on the plate. The campaign went on to achieve 100s of pieces of coverage across digital, print and TV media, over 200,000 engagements on X and numerous award shortlists.
